Not a Minute to Waste

As the last days of school came to a close, the construction crews were itching to begin more demolition on our building.  When Friday rolled around, the crews were going full force.  This post has lots of pictures that shows big changes that are going on.

LIBRARY AND MEDIA CENTER
The library was all packed up and cleaned out by the last day of school.

A last view of the library.

A few items remain waiting to be moved.

Workers begin removing the ceiling tiles in the old library.

The new media center gets some soffett work.

The framing for the reading center has been installed.

Curved soffett accents over the reading center.

The computer area is getting drywall.

NEW OFFICE AREA
Soffetts are being drywalled in the entrance to the administrative area.

The front doors have been installed.

The grids for the ceiling tiles are being installed in the front vestibule.

PRESCHOOL PLAYGROUND AND NEW PICK UP LANE

Workers laid the framing for the concrete that will go around the preschool playground.

The concrete has been poured.

Workers continue to work on the new pick up lane that will extend around the back of our building.

Gravel has been laid in the new lane.
HALLWAYS
Work has begun on demolishing the hallway as seen from the cafeteria.

Worker, Josh Yeager, eagerly knocks down the wall by the main stairs.

This is what remains of our old lobby.

The ceiling in the car hallway is being renovated.

The boys' restroom by the elevator is being demolished.

CAFETERIA AND GYM

Ceiling tiles were removed so that the workers could access the light panels and ductwork.

The new doorway leading to the administrative area has been opened.

The stage has been cleared as they prepare for demolition.
The stage area looks very different after the ceiling tiles have been removed.

The entry into the cafeteria

All of the ceiling tiles and ductwork have been removed.  The cafeteria was once the school gym.

The workers take down the duct work.
The next thing removed is the hardwood floor.  Superintendent Darren turned the floor into piles of toothpicks.

The area where the lunch tables sat is now rubble.

A pile of flooring waits to be removed.

Many people didn't realize that there is a room behind the stage.  It was used for storage and housed the furnace.  The workers have cut a hole in the wall in order to remove the old furnace.

The wall has mirrors and sinks from the restrooms that were in the gym.
