Drastic Changes

Going into the building last week, I felt like I was stepping into a strange, new school.  With multiple crews working tirelessly, the building is undergoing changes very quickly in a week's time.  I tried to take pictures of everything and I will do my best to describe where everything is located.

These are the front windows of the lobby.  The black smudge in the center is actually a bird.

<><> <><> <><>
The starburst in the ceiling of the lobby has been painted.

<><> <><> <><>
Cabinetry is being delivered to the new office area.  This is where Mrs. Vogler will be.  I don't know if the green wall is in its permanent location or not but the blue one is.

Cabinets for the kindergarten rooms on the bottom level have been delivered.

This is the doorway that leads from the new admin hallway into the old car hall.
<><> <><> <><>
The HVAC unit is being placed on the roof.

<><> <><> <><>
Much of the debris from out front has been removed.

<><> <><> <><>
This used to be the stairwell, elevator, and entrance into the teacher's workroom.

<><> <><> <><>
If you look up at the same area as above, you will see a large hole in the roof.
<><> <><> <><>
The same hole but with some dust from where they are breaking down the walls.

<><> <><> <><>
This is what remains of the stairwell.

<><> <><> <><>
The open area used to be Ms. VanDyke's room.  The new wall blocks off what was the open area in the corner that was home to Mrs. Fosson and Mrs. Taylor's offices.  This will now be our new stairwell.

<><> <><> <><>
This is the new classroom area that used to be Mrs. Fosson's office and the resource office.  Many of us remember that room as Mrs. Roxberry's Quest room.

<><> <><> <><>
This was formerly the entrance into the cafeteria.  Soon it will be our new stairwell.

<><> <><> <><>
The view is from the old car hall.  The first doorway was the women's restroom .  I am pretty sure that it will now be our new school store.  (Not that we will actually  have a store, but we will have the possibility for one.)

<><> <><> <><>
Sorry that pictures are out of order.   Josh and another worker are knocking down the brick wall that was common between the stairwell and the workroom.

<><> <><> <><>
This is the view from the former  workroom entrance by the elevator.

<><> <><> <><>
Another view of the now defunct stairwell which is now the location for the new elevator.

<><> <><> <><>
This was the boys' and girls' restrooms by the elevator.  Walls have been removed and a new floor has been poured.

<><> <><> <><>
Someone had fun breaking windows out of the old classrooms.
<><> <><> <><>
The doorways and windows to the library and computer lab have been bricked in.

<><> <><> <><>
The second library entrance and teachers' lounge doors have also been bricked in.

<><> <><> <><>
The embellishments in the media center have been painted.

The embellishment above the checkout counter is a lovely shade of green.

This is a brand new wall in the cafeteria.  It runs about 6 feet in front of the old stage.  Behind it the "temporary hallway" (which isn't really temporary) will extend to the new doorway that is in the corner where the old entrance was.  Confused????

This is looking at the far right of the new wall.  The doorway leads into the new hallway formerly referred to as the "temporary hallway".

This is the entrance to the serving line.  Notice the curved embellishments.

This view is of the wall where the tables and windows were.  Drywall for new embellishments has been added.

Another view of the same wall but you can now see the new doorway that leads to the lobby.

There were several Skyjacks in the cafeteria as workers try to have it completed before school begins.  One worker commented that if it wasn't finished that the kids could eat in their rooms everyday for a while.  I think the look on my face let him know that we are not very fond of that idea.
Another view of the same wall

The serving line again but you are able to see how the ceiling is changing.

This is the continuation of the temporary hallway in front of the stage but behind the new wall.  The end of the hall is the new entrance that leads into the new hallway that was formerly our outside walkway.
Workers fill in the space that contained doors that led from the cafeteria to the gym.

The wall that was common with the gym is being prepped to house a new stage.  The stage will be accessible from both the gym and cafeteria sides.

Workers finish off the edges of the walls that were torn down.
