Keeping Up the Pace

The renovation crews have been anxiously awaiting our last day of school to begin the next step of our renovation.  In the meantime, they have continued to work on the administrative areas and media center, and have begun digging for our new back drive area.

The upper vestibule area is beginning to look like the computer renderings.

The casings for the vestibule have been installed.

This is the interior of the front area.

Front doors are waiting to be installed.
Windows are being installed and caulked.

This is part of the office area.

The portion of the walls that meet up with the ceiling are being fitted with drywall and will be filled with insulation as a sound barrier.

Duct work is waiting to be installed in the media center.

The interior walls of Ms. VanDyke and Mrs. Taylor's offices have been torn down.  This area will eventually house our new elevator.

The window in Mrs. Fosson's old office has been removed.

In the area behind the gym/kitchen, they are digging so that a drive area can be put in.

Beautiful Work Week

Even with the little bit of rain we had, this week has been perfect for our renovation crews to keep working.
New, modern-looking light poles have been installed in the bus lane.

The front entrance is looking better every day.

The casings for the windows and doors have been installed.

This is  the area where Mrs. Vogler will be to greet our guests.

This is the nurse's area with a restroom and two examination rooms.

The hallway to the administrative offices has been drywalled.

Workers have begun to add drywall to the embellishments around the display cases in the front office area.

Safety first...a worker is harnassed to the support pole as he cleans the awning over the front entrance.

The media center is getting drywall as well.

May Update

Steady Progress is Being Made

The work that has been done for the last couple of weeks hasn't been as exciting to see as some previous work.  Once the wall forms went up, the electricians have been busy putting in miles of wiring.  This week the drywall began to go up in the administrative offices and there has been more tearing down of some upstairs rooms.

The first casings for the front vestibule windows have been installed.

Steps are being poured in the grassy area beside the temporary office windows.

Dry wall and insulation were delivered.

Dry wall has been installed.  Notice that this drywall is a purple color instead of the typical gray.  The board is more durable and is installed in areas where there is plumbing.

Drywall installed in an office.

A drywaller is mudding the wall in the entry to the office.

The upstairs corner is undergoing some destruction.

This was formerly Ms. Vandyke's classroom.

Mrs. Fosson's office has its ceiling stripped.

Mrs. Fosson's old office is on the left.  The ceiling has been torn down and a temporary wall put up to separate the work from the hallway that we are still using.

The corner room is now empty and awaiting destruction.

MEDIA CENTER

Loops of wiring hang down awaiting lighting fixtures in the media center.

Painters have been busy in the media center.  The off-white paint has made a huge difference already.  This area is the media workrooms and where the check out desk wiill be.
If you look closely at the floor, you will see markings that are for the reading area.

This is the main area of the media center.  Notice the curved embellishments in the ceiling area.
